MONTGOMERY – Registered pharmacist Tammy H. Rogers joined the Alabama Retail Association  board of directors on Jan. 1 as the owner and pharmacist for Beaumont Pharmacy & Gift Boutique in Birmingham. Beaumont has been an ARA member since the pharmacy opened in October. From 2006 through 2011, Rogers served on ARA’s board representing Rite-Aid Corp., her former employer.

Rogers, who left the chain drug arena to pursue her dream of opening her own business, said it was natural to continue her association with ARA.

I value small businesses and know how important the Retail Association is to the success of these vital organizations,” Rogers said.

Rogers, a native of Arcadia, Fla., has 24 years of experience as a pharmacist, including serving as a regional pharmacy vice president for Rite Aid.

Rogers served on the Alabama Board of Pharmacy from 2005 to 2009, serving as the board’s treasurer in 2007, vice president in 2008 and president in 2009.

She earned her pharmacy degree in 1988 from the University of Georgia’s College of Pharmacy in Athens, Ga.
