ARA Seeks Centennial Retailers

Monday, June 14, 2010

MONTGOMERY - The Alabama Retail Association is seeking Alabama Centennial Retailers – retailers with 100 or more years in business in Alabama. The deadline for nominations is Monday, June 21.

This program, which is in its eighth year, recognizes century-old businesses for their contributions to the state's past, present and future.

Centennial Retailers will be recognized during the Alabama Retail Day luncheon in September in Birmingham. Each will receive a brass plaque to place outside their business and a certificate suitable for display inside.

Retail businesses that have operated in Alabama since 1910 or before are eligible. To be considered a Centennial Retailer, the business must collect state and local sales taxes.

Retail businesses submitted will be contacted and asked to provide a brief history and other information about their business.

CentennialRetailerLogoRetailers are only recognized once as a centennial business. Please review the list of the 56 retailers honored previously before making a nomination in order to avoid nominating an already honored business.
